Solo exhibition by Villiam Miklos Andersen at 1Shanthiroad in Bangalore, India

In the exhibition ”areas of common interest,” two temporary architectural structures in Bangalore are examined, each holding significance in framing memories of desire, romance, and being a break from the expectations of daily life.

The exhibition architecture will showcase a scale model made from a specific type of metal roofing sheets used to enclose construction sites in India. These blue sheets currently surround the construction site of the former Empire Theater, a majestic 1920s building in the city center known as a meeting spot for the bohemian scene. The building was recently demolished, and the monolithic blue box now accommodates craftsmen constructing a building for the future. Upon entering the structure, a tarsia inlay image hangs, created in the artistic tradition of Mysore. The image depicts a makeshift hut by Huskur Lake in Electronic City Phase II. This lake has been constructed in the newly built part of the city, providing a space where one can seek refuge from the urban grid and enjoy an intimate moment under the cover of night.

The exhibition is realized in collaboration with artisans, artists, and craftsmen from Mysore and Bangalore.
